Moving away from seed pods.....

So as I was doing my homework this weekend I read about an Occupational Model of practice called the Kawa model. Here is the link to the website that talks about the model. I really find it interesting and was thinking about trying to incorporate it into a piece of jewelry of some kind. I was considering making earrings that looked like river rocks that contain lots of material so when they open, river like material flows out of them signifying that my life is healthy and on the right track. When I am feeling frustrated and out of place in my life the earrings would be closed because in the model, the river signifies the flow of ones life. It gets impeded with river rocks and when there is a large build up, you need occupational therapy. Check out the website, its an interesting concept.

Containment: in progress

So we are still in the exploratory stages of our first project. I figured I would post some images of what I have been working on the last week. Eventually the pieces will be seed pods and will be strung around the wearers neck.

The Ellen Powell Tiberino Museum

This is a group of houses that have been converted to a museum. It is am amazing, creative, inspirational place that every artist should experience at least once! I actually spent the first few years of my life in one of the houses and since then have kept close ties with the family and visit every so often.
